Lighting Case Studies- Target light fixture manufacturers

Plastics are widely used on lighting applications, including light fixtures, it’s becoming more common to see acrylic, polycarbonate, PVC, CPVC, and PC plastics used in lense and light housing projects.

These projects have significant advantages over other materials because they are lightweight, have wide colour availability, excellent impact resistance, and easy-to-form flexibility.

Here are 2 few fun projects in Montreal, Quebec that Plastifab is proud to have been part of:

Wings of Fashion
Retailer Les Ailes de la Mode (literally: “The Wings of Fashion” in downtown Montreal underwent a major update and redesign in 2008. The project architect Louis Lemay wanted a grand entrance for the store so he built a central atrium “architectural experience”. This vast glittering all was supported by light columns with fluorescent light bulbs sheathed in Lexan® Polycarbonate lighting panels so the glass and stainless steel balconies above appear to float o shafts of flight.

The tough Polycarbonate panels that Plastifab used in this project are fully operable allowing for easy maintenance and protection for the lighting system and the custom lighting color allows for diffused and soft lighting effects.

National Bank – Art Court Event
To celebrate the 10th year of their Rogers Cup (tennis) Sponsorship, National Bank was asked to attend an event in Montreal’s Uniprix Stadium.

BLVD, a montreal-based design and production company, sought Plastifab to build a visual equalizer with LED lights and a light diffusing material. We built a frosted, impact resistant acrylic material that met all the requirements of this extraordinary event location.
