Every once and a while it’s good to get back to basics. Today we’re going to give you the quick version of Thermoplastics 101. Here are a few things you need to know about thermoplastics their properties, and their uses.
Thermoplastics are polymers that can be melted and recast indefinitely, making it mechanically recyclable over and over again. When heated it becomes a molten substance that hardens when cooled. However, when frozen, the polymers become brittle and are prone to shattering like glass.
Thermoplastics are all around us (you probably have multiple instances of them in the room you’re in right now). They are common in sports equipment, lego, car parts, DVD, water bottles, eyeglass lenses, shampoo bottles, plastic bags, and so many more consumer uses.
At Plastifab, we want to design success together. Our team can help you pick the right thermoplastic material for your project, and assist with the design to ensure your project is a success.
