All About Polyurethane

Polyurethane (PU) is known for outperforming other plastics, rubber, and even steel in its environmental resistance factors. It’s an extremely versatile elastomer that is used in countless applications and industries worldwide today. While most forms are thermoset plastics, many are available in thermoplastics forms too (which is what we work with at Plastifab).

Here are the key properties of this strong thermoplastic:

  • Wide range of hardness.
  • High load-bearing capacity.
  • High abrasion and impact resistance.
  • High tear resistance.
  • Resistance to water, oil and grease.
  • Good electrical insulating properties.
  • Very resistant to temperature extremes.
  • Mold, mildew and fungus resistance.

Two of our most popular brands of Polyurethane is Hydex 202 and 301:

Hydex 202 is a rigid polyurethane resin with good chemical resistance, as well as superior impact and excellent mechanical properties. It’s best suited for applications where you need the unique combination of toughness, toughness, dimensional stability and chemical resistance. It has the ability to withstand chemical attacks in a PH range from 2 to 14.

Hydex 301 is a clear, rigid polyurethane resin that provides excellent clarity when polished. Like Hydex 202, it also has a broad range of chemical resistance and outstanding practical toughness.

We proudly carry Hydex polyurethane for extruded parts. Contact us to inquire about using polyurethane for your next project.
